A faceted blue cut-glass vase designed by Josef Hoffmann (1870-1956) for Moser, circa 1910. Josef Hoffmann is among our favourite designers of the 20th Century and together with his friend Koloman Moser (1868-1918) founded the Wiener Werkstatte (Vienna Workrooms) in 1903. Hoffmann designed many pieces of glass during the early 20th Century and usually had his pieces executed by makers such as Moser Glassworks and Lobmeyr. Whilst this piece is unsigned by either the maker or designer, it is known to be a Hoffmann for Moser design, and it was often the case that Hoffmann glass was unsigned. The piece is in excellent condition for its age and has no significant flaws, however, does have some surface wear to the underside and some tiny fleabites to the edges which are commensurate with age.
