To the centre of the pin is a rather large princess cut aquamarine weighing 8.80 carats and has been classed as 'bright mid blue eye clean with some light facet wear'. The gemologist who has viewed this piece notes that this central aquamarine is likely a later replacement, which leaves one wondering if it formerly contained a large sapphire or even a diamond. Despite this central stone not being original to the piece it is certainly sympathetic to the brooch, with aquamarines and diamonds regularly seen together in Art Deco jewellery. To the rear of the pin there is a 14 karat yellow gold pin with roller style catch which is working well and is secure. For over 100 years, Henry Kohn & Sons was a high-quality jewellery institution in Hartford, Connecticut. Henry Kohn was born in Bohemia, Austria, in 1839 and came to America in 1865. Henry settled in Hartford, Connecticut, and started his small jewellery business. Kohn's eponymous company was a retail and wholesale diamond and precious gemstone establishment that enjoyed much success. An 1886 article from the Hartford Courant stated that Kohn "is everywhere recognised as a gentleman of superior business attainments and thoroughly affable ways and manners". This piece is such a lovely example of Art Deco design and by a highly regarded jeweller, it would be a beautiful addition to a black evening dress or even attached to a piece of velvet ribbon and worn as a choker.

Marked - simply marked 'KOHN' but acid tests as platinum and 14 karat gold

Measures - 4.5cm W x 2.1cm H

Total diamond weight - 2.12 carat

Total weight of piece - 12.11 grams

Independent appraisal values this piece at $24,000

This diamond brooch pin has been crafted in 18-karat yellow gold and set with fancy coloured diamonds, manufactured by Rene Boivin. The necklace is marked in several areas with a '750' gold purity stamp and a London import mark, however also features a mark from the Georges Lenfant workrooms. The example of the Lenfant hallmark seen on the necklace is an unusual one as it differs slightly from the commonly seen impression. Thankfully within the mark the letters 'GL' and a small impression of a dice are visible, which are both elements incorporated into the regularly seen mark. There is no clasp to this piece meaning it can only be worn as a long necklace, however it is the perfect length to sit right on the bust. This wonderful example of the finesse of the Lenfant workrooms is likely a one of a kind piece which would be beautiful worn solo of with a collection of other fine gold chains.

Marked - '750' for gold purity along with a London import mark & Georges Lenfant hallmark

Measures - 82cm in length

Total weight of piece - 81.9 grams

Crafted from 18 karat yellow gold, this pair of ear clips have been designed to be interchangeable and convert into 8 different pairs of earrings. The oval hinged bangle has been crafted from 18 karat yellow gold and then set to one side with a panel of garnets and diamonds. The sterling silver necklace features an intricate Edwardian drop pendant fixed to a fine trace chain and resembles a double wreath hanging from an ornate paste set bow. The frame of the pendant has been set with near colourless paste stones which imitate diamonds, and whilst technically upmarket costume jewellery, the piece packs a serious punch. The very fine trace chain terminates with a simple bolt ring clasp which is working well and is secure. Signed to the rear 'MB' the necklace dates to circa 1910 and was manufactured by the well regarded jeweller Murrle Bennet, who were known for making Edwardian and Arts and Crafts period jewellery. The designs that Murrle Bennet used were often adapted from designs which were first made by Liberty and Theodor Fahrner, with some works by Murrle Bennet now held in the British Museum. The company were in business between 1884 and 1914, with this piece dating to the tail end of their operation, the late Edwardian period. The necklace and its paste pendant present in very good antique condition with slight signs of wear and use associated with a piece of its age. A really beautiful and affordable entry level piece of signed Edwardian jewellery.

Marked - '925' for silver purity & 'MBCo' for Murrle Bennet

Measures - 41cm L (necklace) 5.7cm (pendant)

Total weight of piece - 10.7 grams
