A finely carved mother of pearl plaque set in a gold brooch/pendant fitting. The piece dates to 19th century China and whilst the metal is unmarked, it is believed to be 14kt yellow gold. There is a bail to the top so the piece can be worn as a pendant, however this is likely a later addition and not from the time of manufacture. There is a safety catch on the pin fitting which is secure and working well. A very fine example of Chinese craftsmanship.
