The American Indian pattern was one the more popular of the Tiffany Studios' designs for desk sets. In the early part of the 20th century, the company produced as many as 20 different desk accessories in a wide variety of patterns. These elaborate sets were very popular in the first part of the 20th century and reflect an age when fancy desk sets were objects of great pride in the home and a sign of their owner's sophistication and literacy.
