The vase has been crafted in the Meiping shape and is finished with a blue green slightly matte glaze, more atypical for Ruskin at this period. To the underside the vase is marked for manufacture by Ruskin and also has a date mark for manufacture in 1916, right during the middle of World War I. The piece presents in very good condition overall with no apparent chips or cracks and only some minor wear to the underside, commensurate with age and use. Manufactured near Birmingham, Ruskin Pottery is a perfect example of Arts & Crafts period design, with the pieces designed by Edward R. Taylor and his son William Howson Taylor. Remarkably after Ruskin was closed in the 1930s, William Howson Taylor destroyed his glaze records so that pieces could not be replicated. A really lovely example of Ruskin which is in such an elegant shape it is hard to look past.

Marked - 'RUSKIN ENGLAND 1916'

Measures - 27.5cm H
