ruskin-pottery-iridescent-blue-lustre-baluster-vase
Ruskin Pottery Iridescent Blue Lustre Vase

This gorgeous baluster shaped ceramic vase was made by the famed Ruskin Pottery. The vase has been finished with a blue purple iridescent lustre glaze which has a slightly mottled appearance. The vase is marked to the underside for manufacture by Ruskin and has a date mark for 1923, during the reign of George V. The vase presents in very good condition for its age with no chips or cracks and only very fine crazing to the surface of the glaze as is common in Ruskin pieces. Manufactured near Birmingham, Ruskin Pottery is a perfect example of Arts & Crafts period design, with the pieces designed by Edward R. Taylor and his son William Howson Taylor. Remarkably after Ruskin was closed in the 1930s, William Howson Taylor destroyed his glaze records so that pieces could not be replicated. An elegant example to add to a Ruskin collection and a lovely piece of Arts & Crafts design.

Marked - 'RUSKIN ENGLAND 1923'

Measures - 22cm H x 10.5cm W
