A beautiful Victorian era turquoise and gold necklace circa 1880. The piece would be best described as a 'festoon' necklace and consists of a fine gold chain interspersed with small Etruscan revival style flower motifs from which fall a turquoise drop. Each of the 15 cabochon turquoise drops is a deep blue green and is surrounded by granulated gold attached to a fine twisted frame. The necklace is finished with a handmade 'T bar toggle' clasp which works well and is typical of the era the piece was made. There are some very minor losses to the necklace, such as the loss of a few small beads of gold granulation, however this is only noticeable after a very close and thorough inspection, and is commensurate with age. A really gorgeous Victorian necklace which shows incredible craftsmanship.
