An incredible French 18 karat yellow gold shell brooch crafted by Georges L'Enfant for Tiffany & Company in France during the mid 20th century. The heavily sculpted shell is set all over with 19 round cabochon turquoise pieces which have been four claw set. To the rear the piece features a double hinged pin and trombone slide fitting which is working well and is secure. The piece which dates to the 1970s is a fine example of the work of Georges L'Enfant who were a French firm that manufactured jewellery for houses such as Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels & Tiffany. The piece is marked with the lozenge mark of L'Enfant along with two French gold standard marks and is marked along the edge by Tiffany & Co. An absolutely exceptional piece of Mid Century jewellery by one of the hottest names in French jewel history.
