A wonderfully heavy and well made Leopard brooch pin in 18 karat yellow gold in the manner of Cartier. The pin features 69 stones in total and comprises of two marquise emeralds and 67 round sapphires. The textured yellow gold body of the leopard is set with 3.35 carats of moderately bright dark blue round cut Australian sapphires. The two eyes of the leopard feature a pair of marquise cut emeralds that have been grain set and total 0.14 carat. To the rear the brooch features a white gold pin and yellow gold roller catch fitting which is working well and is secure. The pin which is in the manner of Cartier and the famous jewels owned by the Duchess of Windsor likely originates from Asia, perhaps Hong Kong, during the mid 20th century. A beautifully made conversation piece and an excellent example of the Cartier style jewellery that became popular in the 1960s and 1970s.
