An exceptional 18 karat yellow gold and seven panel micro mosaic bracelet. The bracelet centres around seven cobalt blue glass panels which are inset with micro mosaic depictions of Roman ruins, likely acquired on a 'Grand Tour' in Italy during the 1870s. The panels are in exceptionally good condition for their age with some very very minor losses to the edges in the form of flea bites and a very small number of missing tesserae, which are entirely commensurate with age and use. The frame of the bracelet has been remade in 2021 to mimic the original which was damaged beyond repair, however has been reproduced meticulously by hand and retains the original tongue for the clasp, which features a rubbed European hallmark, likely French in origin.
The panels depict from left to right: The Pantheon, Temple of Vesta, Temple of Saturn, Temple of Hercules Victor, The Colosseum, The Temple of Portunus and lastly, the largest 'clasp' panel depicts the Temple of Vespasian and Titus.
