This pair of 18 karat yellow gold 'sputnik' ear clips were made by Brazilian designer H Stern during the mid 20th century. The domed 18 karat gold discs are rub-over set with an array of 38 semi precious stones including 12 amethysts, 10 topaz, 6 garnets, and 10 tourmalines in a mixture of greens and pinks. The pair have strong 18 karat yellow gold clips allowing them to be worn by people with or without pierced ears. The pair were crafted in the mid 20th century during the 'space age' where the world was fascinated with the solar system and the race to get to the moon. The pair are marked with an early hallmark for the famed Brazilian jeweller H Stern who was known for his quality workmanship and stones. A lovely pair of cocktail ear clips which are beautifully made.
