Horn cup with silver mounts and a clear glass base. Mounted with a hand engraved silver shield to the front. The engraving has worn with ‘Abyssinia, to Beilby, Magdalla, 13th April 1868’ being faintly legible.
It is believed that this cup relates to the British Expedition to Abyssinia (Ethiopia) which has been referred to as “one of the most expensive affairs of honour in history”.
