A beautifully crafted '800' purity silver box with a carved bone panel inset into the lid. The heavily detailed silver box dates to circa 1900 and is likely Continental in origin due to its small impressed '800' mark, indicating the silver purity and therefore its likely origin. The carved bone panel inset into the lid depicts Mary and the seven Graces and has developed a rich patina with age. The inside of the box retains some of its original gilt finish while the exterior has developed a rich oxidised patina during the last 120 years.
