An unusual Art Deco vase with geometric and machine age detailing, by French maker, Mougin Freres. The piece was made in Nancy, France, where Mougin Freres (Mougin Brothers) had their workshop from 1903. The vase likely dates to between 1928 and 1932 and is manufactured from moulded porcelain, featuring geometric 'scales' and a stepped foot. Unusually this vase is in a matte black finish, which is incredibly modern for the period. Glazed to the interior it is watertight for arranging flowers.
