An incredible Edwardian aigrette headpiece crafted from 18 karat yellow gold, diamonds and natural cultured pearls. The pin is attached to a split yellow gold plated hinged pin which slides into the hair to secure the piece. To the front of this pin is a crescent moon and star shaped medallion from which a starburst of pearls and feathers stems. The crescent moon is set with natural cultured seed pearls and the adjoining five pointed star is set with brilliant old cut diamonds of H/I colour and P1 clarity totalling 0.88 carat. Atop of the diamond star is a burst of gold stars each centrally set with a seed pearl and with egret feathers to the rear. The plume with gold stars is detachable which would enable the crescent moon and diamond star to be worn as a more toned back hair ornament. The aigrette is complete with its original retailing box for 'J. Snowden' from Cheapside in London and presents beautifully. A rare survivor from the early 20th century and unmistakably Edwardian in appearance.
