An exceptional lariat style necklace in solid 18 karat yellow gold. The necklace has been manufactured of woven 18 karat yellow gold 'rope' which centres on a 'lovers knot' drop from which hang two Etruscan Revival pendants with tassels. The weave of the rope is best described as 'double row round wheat link' which is 4.2mm in diameter. The asymmetric pendants are hollow oval balls which are intricately decorated with filigree wire and each have four 'fox tail' chain tassels that hang to the bottom. The piece is finished with embossed end caps and a concealed push button box clasp that has a working figure of 8 safety catch. Whilst the markings on this piece don't point to a particular maker, the necklace has very strong resemblance to the work of Greek jeweller, Ilias Lalaounis. A seriously hefty and well made piece of jewellery, we can imagine Jackie Onassis wearing this in the Greek islands with ease.
