An important hand-painted Japanese Meiji Porcelain Geisha by Kinkozan Sobei. The bottom of the figure has been marked with an incised flower firing hole, as well as half of a paper label sticker. Although decorated differently, a geisha of the same make, form, and dimensions can be seen on the cover, and back of Louis Lawrences' book "Satsuma: Masterpieces from the World's Most Important Collections", with information and a feature photograph of the piece found on pages 170, and 171.
