A fun Longines 'mystery dial' watch in 14 karat yellow gold. The automatic watch was made likely in the 1960s by Swiss manufacturer Longines for the American market given the gold purity. Mystery dial watches were made mid last century by Longines and were a modernist 'trick of the eye', leaving people at first glance wondering how the hands moved given their lack of 'connection' to the movement. Essentially unlike most conventional watches, one or two of the hands of a mystery dial were actually discs attached to the watch face which moved like a carousel, changing the time as they rotated. The gold crown on the piece features the Longines emblem and appears to be like the dial, in original condition. This solid gold watch has been recently serviced by a watchmaker and had a new band fitted, ready for wear.
