A beautiful example of the work of French designer Paul Milet of Sevres in the form of a flambe glaze vase. Paul Milet was known for his richly coloured glazes during the early 20th century, often bold turquoises, deep reds and lapis blues typically applied to rather modern shapes. This particular vase visually has a similar aesthetic quality to ikat fabric, and is reminiscent of the dressing gown worn by Desmond Guinness in the famed image taken by Slim Aarons. To the bottom and top rim of the vase is an applied pewter mount with a geometric embossed pattern. In incredible condition for a piece nearing 100 years of age the vase only has a couple of minor signs of wear which are commensurate with age.
