A very fine five strand pearl choker centring on a Belle Epoque plaque with diamonds and sapphires. The five strands of akoya cultured pearls total 250 pieces and are individually knotted. The pearls class as 'white/cream pearls with a good lustre and minimal surface blemishes and good sphericity'. To the centre front of the choker sits an openwork platinum, 14 karat yellow gold, diamond and Ceylon sapphire plaque from which each strand of pearls stems from. Belle Epoque or Edwardian in origin the piece is set with old cut diamonds totalling 1.0 carat and all of I/J colour and SI/P1 clarity. To the rear is a relatively contemporary sliding bar style clasp which is working and secure. This choker is a sensational piece and is reminiscent of the pieces worn by the late Diana, Princess of Wales, The Queen and The Duchess of Cambridge.
Marked - 'LOU 14K' on clasp however tests as 18 karat and platinum
