Description

Did this yellow gold needle case belong to Rock Hudson? Probably not... but what a lovely survivor! Crafted from 14 karat yellow gold this early 20th century needle case would have been crafted in the United States. To the exterior the piece has been machine engraved and features an oval cartouche with the name 'Rock' hand engraved inside. Originally designed to hold sewing needles the piece was likely attached to a chatelaine, however would make for an interesting pendant which you won't see on anyone else! The lid which is original to the piece still makes a pop sound when opened indicating it is tight and secure. There is a yellow gold bale to the end which allows it to be attached to a chatelaine, or in today's world, a fine chain. Unfortunately the piece does not present with any maker's marks, but very likely was manufactured during the first quarter of the 20th century. In beautiful condition for its age, even if it didn't belong to Rock Hudson, what an usual and scarce piece for an antique jewellery enthusiast.

Marked - '14K' for gold purity and hand engraved 'Rock'

Measures - 6.2cm L (including bale)

Total weight of piece - 6.32 grams

NB - the chain shown in the images is for photography purposes only and not included
