Description
Crafted from 14 karat yellow gold, and set with moonstones and sapphires, this brooch pin dates to the mid 20th century. The naturalistic style brooch pin takes the form of a leaf which has a spray of moonstones and sapphires which almost has a firework like appearance. Each of the four moonstones have been five claw set and are cabochon cut stones, while the five round cut sapphires are each four claw set and are Ceylonese in origin. To the rear of the piece is a hinged yellow gold 'double pin' with a singular rolling safety catch, which is working well and is secure. It is hard to be certain of the origin of this piece, but it is very much in the taste of the 1950s Retro period jewellery, which was often crafted from gold and bold in its proportions. The brooch pin presents in very lovely condition for its age and shows only the minor signs of wear associated with age and use. A beautiful addition to a winter coat or a delightful piece to pin to a beret or a hat brim.
