This double strand of akoya pearls has diamond set spacers and was made by Ventrella, an Italian jeweller from Rome. The necklace which dates to the mid 20th century comprises a double strand of graduated akoya pearls which measure between 6.5mm and 9.6mm in size. There are two diamond set white gold, bar style 'spacers' which sit at 4 o'clock and 8 o'clock when the necklace is on the neck. Each of these diamonds is estimated to be of G and H colour and SI clarity. The clasp of the piece is based off the design of the spacers and each of these stones is also of G and H colour and SI clarity. Combined the diamonds in the necklace weigh a total of 0.80 carat. The clasp is unusual in that it is a custom made sliding pin clasp which has been beautifully disguised within the diamond 'spacer' to the back. We have has this necklace restrung to ensure it is secure and that there are many more years of wear in it before it will need another restring. A really delightful and slightly more interesting double strand of pearls which is unlike most other examples available on the market.
