Crafted from 18 karat yellow gold and set with rubies and diamonds, this ring was manufactured by the North American firm Hammerman Brothers. The bombe style ring features two panels of diamonds and two panels of 'mystery' set red rubies. Each of the 52 bead set brilliant cut diamonds are of G/H colour and VS-SI clarity totalling 0.75 carat. The two panels of 'mystery' set rubies feature 42 calibre cut rubies which have been set on rails in a technique first mastered by Van Cleef and Arpels in 1933. Mystery setting stones is notoriously difficult and shows great mastery of skill which can be seen in this beautifully crafted piece by Hammerman Brothers. The company started in 1946 and likely produced this piece in the later part of the 20th Century. In really good order, the piece would make an exceptional ruby anniversary gift or be a fine addition to a jewel collectors repertoire.
