Description
Crafted from 18 karat yellow gold, these cufflinks were manufactured in Italy for retail by the luxury brand, Gucci. The stylised cufflinks which are a matched pair each feature a jockey cap and a riding crop, beautifully rendered, and reference the history of Gucci as a label. The company which was founded in 1921 have retailed equestrian related leather goods since their inception, with their horse-bit loafer a staple in the company's range. These cufflinks, which would date to the second half of the 20th century are from the period when Gucci went from being a family owned company to one of the largest luxury brands sold worldwide. It's unlikely that Gucci the firm manufactured these in house, with the likely scenario being that another jewellery company crafted the pair and Gucci have simply branded them for retail in their stores, which is fairly standard practice for large luxury companies. Delightfully whimsy, these cufflinks are undoubtedly going to a favourite in a gentleman's cufflink rotation.
