Description
This pair of 18 karat yellow gold ear clips were made by one of America's great jewellers, Henry Dunay. The pair, which are likely only 20 or 30 years old, imitate a piece of ribbon and feature keyhole clip fittings to the rear, meaning they can be worn by people with or without pierced ears. Fully signed for manufacture by Dunay, the pair have been supplied with a pair silicone sheaths that slide over the clips, giving a softer grip on the ear. Henry Dunay (1935-2023) was one of north America's great jewellers of the 20th century and counted Elizabeth Taylor and Hillary Clinton among his patrons. Largely known for his work with sculpted gold that has been textured, this pair of ear clips are distinctly Dunay in their look and feel. The finish on the pair is what could be described as 'Florentine' with the surface having the feel of a textured silk satin. The clips are in terrific condition and show few signs of use or wear and are ready for their new 21st century custodian.
