Description
This truly beautiful diamond brooch pin takes the form of a nail and is what is often referred to as a bar brooch. The piece is crafted from 14 karat yellow gold and silver, and has been set with diamonds. To one end of the pin is a single oval old mine cut diamond which is of L colour and SI1 clarity weighing 0.65 carat. Just below this mine cut stone is a smaller old European cut diamond of J colour and SI clarity weighing 0.11 carat. The balance of the brooch has been set with 34 rose cut diamonds which are each estimated to be of I colour and SI-P1 clarity, together weighing 0.22 carat. Whilst this particular piece is unmarked for a maker, it is likely that it was manufactured during the early 20th century, shortly after 1900, and possibly originated in Continental Europe. To the rear the piece features a hinged pin with hook closure. The pin has been recently polished and checked over and is in very good antique condition, with no apparent issues other than the standard signs of age and use for an antique brooch. A gorgeous piece to pin on the lapel of a jacket or a great way to hold a sweater in place around one's shoulders.
