One of our favourite jewellery styles is Etruscan Revival, and this bangle is a lovely example of English jewellery from the last quarter of the 19th century. Crafted from 15 karat yellow gold the hinged oval bangle has been set to one side with three oval cut amethysts weighing approximately 53 carats in total. The amethysts are a typical stone used in English jewellery during the 1870s and 1880s, the era this bangle dates to, and paired with gold it creates a striking piece of jewellery. Surrounding the amethysts is some very fine twisted wirework which is a common feature in jewellery made in the Etruscan Revival taste. The bracelet terminates with a secure tongue and box clasp and features a fine gold safety chain for extra security. The piece is in very good antique condition, with minor wear to the surface of the gold and some abrasions to the facets of the amethyst, commensurate with age and use. An absolutely gorgeous example of Victorian period Etruscan Revival jewellery.
