Description

Crafted from 18 karat gold and platinum, this convertible bangle has been set with deep red garnets and diamonds. The bangle has been crafted in Sweden in the early part of the 20th century by CG Hallberg, a notable maker and jeweller to the Swedish court. The oval hinged bangle has been crafted from 18 karat yellow gold and then set to one side with a panel of garnets and diamonds. The seven deep red garnets are all cushion cut and are accented by 18 old mine cut and rose cut diamonds. Each of these diamonds are estimated to be between G and I colour and SI to P1 in clarity totalling approximately 1.38 carat. This panel of garnets and rubies have been set in a platinum mount which is detachable from the bangle with a screw mechanism to the rear. The purpose of this detaching is likely to allow the garnet and ruby panel to be connected to a hair pin/clip, which has unfortunately been lost to time. The hinged bangle has a tongue and box clasp with an attached safety chain and is working well and is secure. The inside of the bangle is stamped with crisp Swedish hallmarks allowing us to date the manufacture of the piece to circa 1911. In remarkably good order the bangle is a really gorgeous piece of antique armwear by an esteemed maker.
