This beautifully handmade, platinum and diamond brooch pendant was crafted in the first part of the 20th Century and can be described as 'Belle Epoque'. The hand pierced platinum disc centres on a cross of Old European cut diamonds, the central stone being of G/H colour and SI2 clarity weighing 0.48 carat. To the north, south, east and west are a further single Old European cut diamond each between G & J colour and VS-SI clarity with a combined weight of 0.72 carat. The balance of the pendant is set with rose cut diamonds and two small replacement modern brilliant cut diamonds which are all encompassed in the fine milgrain finished filigree work. To the rear of the brooch pendant is a hinged pin with sliding safety catch which is working well and is secure. To the top of the brooch pendant is a small rose cut diamond set bale which is able to be removed from its screw fitting so the piece can be worn as a brooch without any suggestion that it has the possibility of being worn on a chain. The piece is complemented with a fine platinum cable link chain that has a bolt ring clasp. This brooch pendant is perhaps the best iteration of this type we have seen and given its versatility makes it a particularly desirable antique jewel.
