This pair of earrings have been crafted from 19th century jewellery components and present in the Victorian taste. The earrings stem from an old cut diamond set stud from which a carved lava cameo drop hangs. The old mine cut diamonds in the studs are each estimated to be of G colour and VS clarity and together weigh 0.38 carat. The oval lama cameo medallions depict putti and will have been reused from an older piece of jewellery which likely dated to the 1870s when lava cameos were popular. These carved putti have been mounted in an 18 karat yellow gold frame which is connected to the bottom of the diamond studs, also mounted in 18 karat yellow gold. The pair have been fitted with a lever 'U' shaped backing which are both working well and are secure. There are two very small gold hallmarks present on the pair, and whilst very likely Continental in origin, we have been unable to ascertain their country of manufacture or their maker. The pair present good condition with some very minor losses to the lava cameos which is to be expected for pieces of this nature. A really lovely pair of earrings crafted from antique components, and ready for a new 21st century custodian.
