This hand crafted platinum, diamond and ruby ring was manufactured by one of the most esteemed French jewellers, Chaumet. The handmade platinum mount has been mounted with three natural rubies, each an oval cut, totalling 1.42 carat with each of them being set with 18 karat yellow gold claws. The balance of the ring has been set with five round brilliant cut diamonds and five marquise cut diamonds, each of G/H colour and of VS-SI clarity totalling 1.85 carat. Each of these diamonds have been set with platinum claws, and they surround the central ruby cluster in an asymmetric halo of sorts. The ring is signed 'CHAUMET RM' and there is a small rubbed French mark making it hard to date, however we believe it has been manufactured during the 1960s or 1970s as it has the look of a cocktail ring of that era. Chaumet was established in France in 1780 and were known to create pieces for Napoleon and Josephine, and have long been credited for crafting some of the world's most historic diamond tiaras. This really elegant cocktail ring would be a beautiful gift for a lady celebrating her ruby wedding anniversary, or a delightful push present for a mother to be.
