A pair of early 20th century Chinese carved jadeite lidded vases. These specimens have each been expertly carved from a solid piece of jadeite, with incredible attention to detail paid to the fine chain which links the lids to the base of each vase. Both pieces feature floral decoration, with flowers working their way up each side, accumulating to a small thicket atop the lid, which is accompanied by a small carved bird. Each vase rests on a fitted carved timber base. These pieces date to the late Qing Dynasty, or the early Chinese Republic.
