This four strand Akoya pearl bracelet has a gold shell clasp and is marked for manufacture by American jeweller David Webb. The bracelet which dates to the 1960s centres on a cast gold shell clasp which has a 'fossilised' appearance and texture. From this shell stems four strands of white Akoya type pearls which are individually knotted and terminate with a tongue closure which meets with the shell clasp. Founded in 1948, David Webb created bold jewellery worn by figures such as The Duchess of Windsor, Diana Vreeland, Elizabeth Taylor & Jackie Kennedy Onassis. Since Webb's passing in 1975 the firm has continued to operate and there is a store in both New York and Los Angeles. The bracelet has been completely re strung in 2024 so is ready for its next adventure on the arm of a pearl lover.
