This antique Edwardian ring features the most beautiful colour change sapphire which has been surrounded by diamonds. The handmade platinum and 18 karat yellow gold ring centres on a bezel set, oval mixed cut 'colour change sapphire' which has been calculated to weigh 1.92 carat. A gemologist has classed the sapphire as changing in colour 'from fine blue in daylight equivalent light to fine purple in incandescent light' and determined it as 'bright (and) slightly included'. The sapphire is surrounded by 12 old mine cut diamonds which range in colour from G to I and VS-SI clarity, totalling 1.26 carats. To the inside shank of the ring is a very small rubbed hallmark which appears to have been damaged in an old resize of the ring. Despite the lack of us knowing who made the ring and where it was made, it is likely to be European and date to around 1910. This ring is such a delight and would make the most beautiful engagement ring for a lady who appreciates fine antique jewels.
