A very fine and versatile French platinum brooch pin with detachable dress pins and ear-clips. The floral spray pin is stamped with French assay marks for both platinum and 18 karat gold. Designed to be worn in three ways, the pair of dress clips mount onto a frame to allow them to be worn as one large brooch pin, alternatively the central orchids can be detached and worn as clip earrings. Entirely set with modern brilliant cut and baguette cut diamonds, this piece certainly shines bright. The diamonds in the piece are all of G/H colour and VS-SI clarity and have been claw or mille grain set. The closure to the rear is a hinged pin and and has a sliding tube clasp for security. The piece dates to the 1950s and is a beautiful example of the 'cocktail' jewellery that was produced in that period, especially in France.
