A five-piece tea and coffee service in sterling silver with ebony handles and finials in Georg Jensen's pattern 80, designed in 1915, hallmarked for a post-1945 manufacture. While Jensen's reverence for traditional Danish design and interest in themes of nature were often married in equal part to the popular Art Nouveau style, here he has exercised a level of experimentation with the new moderne aesthetic and overall restraint in ornamentation that for 1915 was progressive for his company. Evidence of the Jensen workshop's hand-wrought metalwork can be found in the hammered effect on display on each of the five-piece set as well as some minor grey-scaling, a product of the annealing process on many hand-hammered silver pieces. Beautifully crafted the set has minimal wear and signs of use and would be at home on almost any breakfast table.
