Description

This rather large sterling silver spoon was made during the reign of George II and has an intricate monogram to the handle. We don't often have pieces of George II silver in our collection, so this is a pleasure for us to handle. The spoon has a rather beautiful 'PFC' monogram engraved the end of the handle, likely the initials of the original owner. The piece retains hallmarks for manufacture in London in 1754, however the maker's mark has rubbed over time and is unfortunately illegible. The piece shows the usual signs of wear for an object that has been used for over 270 years, and has plenty of life left for Christmas gatherings and large dinner parties. A gorgeous example of early Georgian period silver in lovely order.

Marked - English silver marks for London manufacture in 1754 & rubbed maker's mark

Measures - 36cm L

Total weight of piece - 184 grams
