A miniature portrait of a Georgian lady with a dog and rifle. This picture has been hand painted on ivory and has a sepia image to the rear which is likely a later 'mourning' portrait. The piece is framed in a gilt metal frame which appears to be original to the contents. The portrait is unsigned but it can established that it dates to circa 1780 by the clothing and attire the sitter is wearing. The rear sepia portrait is estimated to be perhaps ten years after the front image, circa 1790, likely a 'mourning' image of the sitter. An absolutely beautiful example of 19th century miniature portraits and in excellent condition for a piece 250 years of age.
