Description
This rather large and very practical crystal pitcher was made by the famed Czech maker, Moser Glassworks. The pitcher which is made from lead free crystal is in the 'Splendid' pattern which was first introduced by Leo Moser in 1911. The pattern features an ornate 24 karat gilt rim which sits atop of a very intricate cut crystal body and has been made in a variety of shapes and sizes throughout its history. The Splendid pattern has been a staple among some of the world's finest dining rooms for decades with the Czechoslovak president gifting the late Queen Elizabeth II a selection of Splendid crystal for her wedding in 1947. From the font style of the acid etched signature to the underside we can ascertain that the piece has been manufactured post 1992, and is contemporary in terms of its age. In near immaculate condition the pitcher has no chips or cracks and only minor wear to the underside, which comes with most pieces of vintage and antique glass. A really beautiful way to serve orange juice at a formal breakfast or a great vessel for Pimm's and Lemonade.
