This absolutely charming coffee or mocha set was made by Georg Jensen to a design by Johan Rohde (1856-1935) known as 'Cosmos'. The set comprises 3 pieces of hand-hammered silver, a mocha or coffee pot, a small creamer, and a lidded sugar bowl. The set feature a melon ribbed section to each piece and a plain hammered top with a simple half-ribbed knop to the lid of both the coffee pot and the sugar bowl. Both the coffee pot and the creamer have ribbed ebonised timber handles which are both original to the piece and feature some vine motifs on the inside of each handle which have been rendered in sterling silver also. It's believed the Cosmos design was first conceived in 1915, during World War One, and has been produced throughout the many decades that Jensen has been in business. The hallmarks to the underside of the piece indicate manufacture by Georg Jensen post-1945, making it hard to date precisely, but was likely produced in the mid-20th Century. Johan Rohde who designed this set was one of Jensen's most successful designers and was known for creating the 'Acorn' pattern for which Jensen is widely recognised. A beautiful suite of pieces for the use of a coffee aficionado or a delightful addition to a Jensen collection.
