18th Century Italian Walnut Hallway Seat

An Italian walnut settle or hallway seat with carved lions and caryatids. This piece was most likely adapted from a large 18th-century chest, a common practice in Europe. While most of the piece is crafted from walnut with a wonderful patina there are some later additions in oak and pine that have been sympathetically incorporated. Overall, this piece is a stunning and historical item with character to spare.
