Description

An exceptional three-piece parlour suite designed by Josef Hoffmann for Thonet. The suite comprises a settee and two tub-style armchairs in the famous 'bentwood' by famed Austrian furniture maker Thonet. Designed and manufactured shortly after the turn of the last century, this suite of furniture was produced right at the height of Josef Hoffmann's popularity, with him during this period establishing the 'Wiener Werkstatte' with Koloman Moser. The suite retains some aged paper labels to the underside of the pieces which say 'THONET' and assist in authenticating the pieces. Reupholstered during their lifetime they are currently covered in 'Rosenborgen' (arched roses) fabric which was first designed by Josef Hoffmann in 1908 and is a very sympathetic choice. Beautifully snug and comfortable to sit in, this parlour suite is as chic today as it was 110 years ago.
