This 19th Century earring and brooch pendant suite are likely a Grand Tour souvenir from Italy, circa 1870s. Finely carved, the pieces are in the Etruscan revival taste and depict a classical female along with an urn drop which is suspended from the brooch pendant. This urn pendant is detachable so that the brooch pendant can be worn as the bust only. There are small loops at the back of the earrings which indicate they too had detachable urns, however these have been lost to history. The two earrings have screw back fittings which are true to the period, these could be converted to have shepherd's hook fittings if desired. The coral in this set is of such a beautiful pale 'angel skin' colour, it almost resembles porcelain. A delightful Grand Tour suite which would be a welcome addition to the jewellery box of a coral lover.
