A quality cast bronze statue depicting Joan of Arc on horseback atop a marble base modelled and signed by Emmanuel Fremiet (1824 - 1910). This piece is a miniature version of Fremiet's "Jeanne d'Arc" commissioned by the French government in 1870-1874 and is prominently displayed in the Place des Pyramides in Paris. Alongside his monumental works commissioned by the state, he was recognised as an excellent realistic animal sculptor, devoted mainly to equestrian statues. As well as Fremiet's signature is a foundry mark reading "F.B.", for Ferdinand Barbedienne who specialised in rendering smaller bronzes of larger works. There is some damage to the marble base.
