Description

This diamond brooch pin has been crafted in 18-karat yellow gold and set with fancy coloured diamonds, manufactured by Rene Boivin. The piece which dates to the 1950s takes the form of a vine leaf and is set with 57 brilliant cut diamonds ranging from light yellow to deep brown in colour. The piece whilst not signed 'Boivin', is accompanied by an attestation (certificate) from the leading French jewellery expert Jean-Norbert Salit, stating that the piece is the work of Rene Boivin and dates it to circa 1950. In the attestation, Salit states that there have been 'restaurations' to the pin of the piece which have been undertaken in 14 karat gold, and that some diamonds have been replaced. The pin to the rear is fitted with a safety latch and is working well and is secure.
