Description

An extremely fine glass beaker in a design by Michael Powolny (1871-1954) for Lobmeyr of Vienna. The piece retains its original fitted and labelled retailing box and has the makers monogram etched to the underside of the glass. Powolny was part of the Austrian Secessionist movement and the Wiener Werkstatte during the early part of the 20th Century. Known for his collaboration with Lobmeyr, a famed and long standing Viennese glass maker, his designs are highly regarded and feature in museums globally. In extremely good condition for its age it is likely this beaker has always been housed in its original box which is felt lined, and like the beaker, in extremely good order.
