This exceptional brooch pin crafted from platinum and set with diamonds was made by the Egyptian jeweller Wolf Horovitz in the mid 20th Century. The brooch pin takes the form of a pair of floral stems which overlap each other, the flowers, buds and stems all being represented by diamonds. The stems comprise channel set baguette cut diamonds with buds and leaves attached to them in the form of round brilliant cut, French cut and carre cut diamonds. The two flowers in the spray each centre on a round brilliant cut diamond with petals in the form of carre cut and French cut diamonds. Each of the diamonds in the brooch is of G & H colour, with one stone a J, and all between VS and VS2 clarity. In total the piece has a calculated diamond weight of 7.50 carat, with each of the stones being of remarkably good quality. The pin can be secured to a garment via the hinged double prong clasp which is working well and is secure. The pin dates to circa 1950, and is a rare piece by the famed Egyptian jeweller Horovitz. Born in Romania, Wolf Horovitz (1883-1959) counted King Fouad I and King Farouk I as clients when based in Alexandria in Egypt. After the fall of the Egyptian monarchy Horovitz's son moved the business to Geneva where the firm became known as one of the best jewellers in the city. This brooch is a beautiful example of mid 20th Century cocktail jewellery, by a sought after and desirable maker.
