A figure group in lead-glazed earthenware of a sea horse surmounted by a cupid bearing a shell on his shoulder. This large majolica centerpiece, known in the factory records as 'Seahorse with Shell' was modeled by French sculptor Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse for Minton, Stoke-on-Trent in the 1850s.
Marked: 'MINTON' (impressed), Date code for April 1862 (impressed)

Condition: It should be noted by the buyer that there is a professional repair to the front right leg of the horse and an original firing crack (close-up image attached).
