Description

An Italian oil on canvas painting of Pope Gregory XIII in reference to a portrait attributed to Bartolomeo Passarotti, circa 1586. The gilt frame appears to be original with signs of restoration. Also notable is a small chip in the paint on the left side of the subject's nose. An original label on the verso states the subject of the picture. The frame is accompanied by a label from Meinhard Galleries in Houston, Texas which was operational between 1971-1985.
